Millions of Americans are in self-isolation right now in an attempt to prevent COVID-19, an infectious respiratory disease caused by the coronavirus, from spreading. Nearly 100,000 schools have closed, resulting in over 40 million children forced to stay home and parents with a new set of challenges.
TELL DR. PHIL YOUR STORY: How has the coronavirus changed your life?
Leo, 15, says she has been arguing with her mom, Frances, because she’s not allowed to leave the house and see her friends. Frances says she’s adamant that nobody can come into their home and says she doesn’t trust other people to be honest about their own exposures.
Per the CDC’s guidelines, which Dr. Phil takes very seriously, he has shut down taping in studio with guests and is recording alone in his “man cave,” with guests joining via video conference and his crew working remotely.
“If we don’t isolate, then this will spread. The way we stop this from ravaging the nation is we stop the spread, and the way we stop the spread is by isolating,” Dr. Phil explains to the teen. “It comes down to whether you’re going to be driven by immediate gratification.”
