The new Steam Library UI was introduced in Oct 2019. In June 2020, I was forced off the old UI, and so I began tweaking the layout and styling to fix the main issues that made the whole new UI unpleasant to use.
This video is an overview on how to apply those tweaks, and find tweaks of your own to add.

– Since Release 3, js_tweaker and fixes.txt has been reworked to allow comments and blank lines. In the file, you can see what lines correspond to what JavaScript tweak. Uncomment out the lines you want below each section header.

F12 also works to open up the Dev Tools.

– Sometimes, if you have the Chrome Dev Tools already open, if you press Ctrl + Shift + I, it will close the Tools, unable to be reopened, and the Steam Library will refuse to load game pages. To reset this state, go to Task Manager and end all instances of Steam Client WebHelper. The Steam Client will then reload the library again.

– Steam file validation is based on the original file length. This is why, if you go to Steamsteamuicsslibraryroot.css and open it up, after you run SteamFriendsPatcher, you will see that it is padded out with spaces to match the original file length. If Steam detects otherwise, it will delete the files and re-download them on restart.
– js_tweaker changes the single reference of “libraryroot.js” inside library.js to “libraryreet.js”. So this is the file you see in use in the video. libraryroot.js is unmodified so as to pass Steam file validation.
– What js_tweaker does is take libraryroot.js, makes a copy and beautifies it to libraryroot.beaut.js, adds in the fixes (fixes.txt) to libraryroot.modif.js, and then minifies the whole file again to libraryreet.js
– After using js_tweaker, if you ever want to reset the JS modifications, modify fixes.txt accordingly, and delete libraryroot.beaut.js. It will be recreated next time you run the js_tweaker.
